I created this page, because I love Halloween. I love the smiles
and laughter of the children when they are allowed to dress up and go knocking
from door to door to yell: "Trick or Treat"!! As a matter of fact, I
enjoy Halloween more than any
other holiday.
We now have four grandchildren and I am having a wonderful time seeing them in
their costumes.

I
like to share some recipes that I found the other day with you.
They are wonderful gross and I know that you'll enjoy them.
Bloodshot
Eyeballs
1 dozen
hardboiled eggs, cooled and peeled
12 ounces whipped cream cheese
1 teaspoon mayonnaise
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon white pepper
24 green or black olives
Ketchup
DIRECTIONS:
Cut each egg in half and remove the yolks. Mix just 2 of the yolks with the cream cheese, salt, pepper and mayonnaise for flavor. Save the rest of the yolks for another recipe. (The cream cheese needs to stay white in color). Fill the hollows of each egg half with the cream cheese mixture and round it to form an eyeball. Use the olives as the irises. Using a toothpick, make red veins in the eyeballs with ketchup.
Franks
in Steins
2 wieners
per child
1/2 cup of prepared pork and beans per child
1/2 cup sauerkraut per child
Packages of Fritos corn chips, (optional)
Ketchup
Mustard
Melted cheese food
Halloween themed paper "hot cups" with handles
DIRECTIONS:
Cook hot
dogs, beans and sauerkraut in separate pans. Melt cheese in microwave. Cut hot
dogs into bite-sized chunks. Into each "stein," spoon a serving of
beans, then hot dogs.
Find a
Halloween themed, heat-proof container and fill it with hot sauerkraut. Tell the
children it's "your last nerves."
Find smaller
Halloween containers for ketchup, mustard and cheese. Label the ketchup 'Bela's
blood' and the mustard and cheese - well, use your imagination.
Give the
kids their Franks in Steins and let them help themselves to the other
ingredients.
Ice
Cream Crones
1
chocolate-covered, pointed ice cream cone per person
1 scoop ice cream per person
Shredded coconut
1 jar maraschino cherries
Miniature chocolate chips or colored candies
DIRECTIONS:
If you can
find chocolate-covered cones, great. Otherwise you will have to melt sweetened
cooking chocolate in a double boiler, according to directions for 'hard"
chocolate coating. Holding each cone by an edge with a pair of tongues, dip it
in the chocolate, then invert it carefully onto waxed paper to cool and harden.
These will be the witches' hats.
For the
witches' heads, use a big scoop of green ice cream. Tint vanilla ice cream with
green food coloring (mint chocolate chip can be used if the chips aren't too
big). When 'hats" are hardened and cool, and about a half hour before you
are ready to serve them, put a round scoop of ice cream into each serving dish.
These will be the witches' "heads." Make sure they are big enough for
their "hats" to sit on top. Put them in the freezer to harden for
about 15 minutes, then take them out and decorate them. Use shredded coconut for
'hair," miniature chocolate chips or colored candies for eyes and
maraschino cherries, cut into slivers, for the mouths. A cashew nut, inserted
hook-down, makes a great nose. Top each witch head with a pointed chocolate cone
and serve these upside-down desserts to delighted guests.
The
Great Krispies Pumpkin
1 stick
butter
2 (10 ounce) packages marshmallows
12 cups Kellogg's (or generic) Rice Krispies cereal
1 tablespoon yellow food coloring
1/4 teaspoon red food coloring
1 large tube prepared green icing (supermarkets have them) for decorating
1 large tube prepared black icing (supermarkets have them) for decorating. If
you can't find black, get dark brown.
1 large tube white decorating icing (for teeth) or use squares of gum
DIRECTIONS:
In a large
saucepot, melt butter on low heat. Do not allow it to burn. Add marshmallows,
stirring frequently. When the marshmallows have melted, add the food coloring
and mix well. When the color is uniformly mixed, add the cereal and continue to
mix until all the cereal is coated with the colored marshmallow mixture.
For one big
Jack O' Lantern, Spray a large porcelain or metal (not plastic) mixing bowl, the
more round the better, with butter-flavored spray to prevent sticking. Press
down cereal firmly into the bowl with your hands or a large spoon. Butter your
hands and/or the spoon with the cooking spray to keep them from sticking to the
cereal. This helps keeping the cereal from sticking to them.Place the bowl in
the refrigerator until it is completely chilled and the mixture is firm. Then
remove it from the refrigerator and carefully invert the "pumpkin"
onto a plate, removing the bowl. Decorate the pumpkin with the prepared icing
for the face, stem and leaf.
If you don't
want to use one big pumpkin as a centerpiece, you will need to find small,
roundish china or metal bowls to make individual Jack O' Lanterns, chill them as
above and decorate each one.
Bucket
O' Bile
2 bottles
Mountain Dew
2 packages blue Kool Aid or two bottles 7-Up and several drops of blue food
coloring
3 cups water (if you use the Kool Aid, not the blue soda)
Gummi candy bugs
DIRECTIONS:
The night
before, freeze Gummi bugs into separate ice cubes or one big one.
Paint a red
cross (the medical kind) on a white bucket, to be used as a punch bowl. Put the
gummi candy-infested ice into the bowl. Mix the water and Kool Aid, or the blue
soda with the Fresca or Mountain Dew and pour over ice.
A sign in front of the bucket that reads, "Toxic medical waste, handle with
care," adds impact.
Bog
Slime
Using
1 packages of orange flavored gelatin dessert and 3 packages of lime flavored
gelatin dessert, make gelatin according to package directions. It should come
out a yucky green. Pour into dessert dishes or cups and insert a couple of Gummi
Worms candies into each dessert. Refrigerate until firm.
Ghost Hand Punch
Ahead of time, buy some new latex gloves. Wash one out and fill
with water. Fasten the arm closed and freeze it. Float it in the
punch before serving.

Arrange them on toilet paper to add that extra touch. Filo dough works good here.
Extra Note: These are very rich, make them small.
